Dalam dunia donlot-donlotan

baik itu download file software, film, musik, atau file apa pun dari internet, dikenal sebuah cara download dengan metode peer-to-peer (P2P)/antar komputer yang saling terhubung via internet ke sebuah server tracker. Cara ini terbilang cukup nyaman karena koneksi download relatif tidak terputus, walau pun kita menghentikan sementara (pause/stop) proses download ini lalu kita bisa sambung lagi di lain waktu.

Untuk bisa terhubung pada sebuah koneksi P2P ini kita hanya perlu download melalui file yang disebut file torrent. Dan untuk download via file torrent ini kita memerlukan aplikasi yang bisa melakukan torrent download, salah satunya yang paling terkenal adalah µTorrent (dibaca: myu toren) atau uTorrent, yang baru saja dirilis versi terbarunya yaitu µTorrent 2.0.

Fitur uTorrent 2.0

uTorrent merupakan sebuah software gratis (freeware) untuk OS Windows untuk melakukan P2P download, dengan ukuran file yang sangat kecil (tak sampai 500KB), tapi sangat powerful dengan beragam fitur.

Sedangkan yang baru di uTorrent 2.0 ini antara lain:

UDP tracker support. UDP trakcer support means a lot better performance for both the tracker and you - the user.
uTP has been improved significantly, with many bugs fixed and performance improvements. uTP automatically regulates the bandwidth usage so you can download your torrents without slowing down the network for others.
The setup dialog has been overhauled to make it much easier to use and with a built-in speed test. More presets were added and it automatically scales settings for high-upload connections.
A new transfer cap feature has been added to track bandwidth usage, along with graphs to show your usage. The transfer cap keeps track of how much bandwidth uTorrent is taking up over a defined period of time and tells uTorrent to stop once you reach certain limits.
